OTHL Preview Detroit

2021-04-21

Detroit Red Wings

Starting Lineup

Parise – Keon – St. Marseille

Puschnig – Oliver – Connelly

Maki. W – Sanderson – Nolet

Tremblay. JC – Pronovost. M

Talbot – Johnston. M

DeJordy – Rollins

Welcome Mat

Blinov [CAL] Glennie [CAL] Mair [PIT]

In another season, Brian Glennie will be patrolling the Detroit defense – Considered a shutdown d-man, Glennie will most likely replace Talbot in that role

Pink Slip

Hodgson – Saari – Shack

The only major subtraction was Shack who had a career best +25 and another 100 plus minutes in penalties. His rugged style and larger than life personality will be missed in the locker room

Stats

GF 3rd – GA 1st – PP 4th – PK 6th

Rookies

Bernier – Blinov – Glennie – Lonsberry – Mair – Sanderson

Other than Glennie, Detroit also has Lonsberry and Sanderson coming – Sanderson will be a two-way center who can move up and down the lineup – Lonsberry has a more physical style but also has some offensive skills that he brings to the table

What they have….

1] High Standards – Detroit fans have come to expect this team to win each season and they haven’t been disappointed winning the division five straight seasons – The changes to the roster are usually minimal with the result always being a playoff berth and division title

What they need…

1] Escape First Round – As successful as Detroit has been they have been knocked out of the first round 4 of the past 5 seasons with their only cup win coming four seasons ago – So, is the glass half full or half empty? – Detroit needs to figure out how to win the big one again or disappoint their fans once again
