Spitballing here... here is an idea I though of minutes ago (so you know it going to be a dandy). What if there is a bar points wise for every team to reach, say 50 points (the number can be any number you want to make it - 40, 45, 107). So, for the playoff teams who reach 50 points, which you will because you are a playoff team, your reward is the playoffs. Now comes the fun part, for the teams who don't make the playoffs and reach 50 points, you are going to gain an additional 5 points to the Lottery Draft or as I call it - The Lottery Jamboree! or Darkened Nights. For every additional 10 points the team has in the standings, the team will acquire 1 additional point for the The Lottery Jamboree. Now, if a team fails to hit the 50 point plateau in the standings, the team will be deducted points off their Lottery Jamboree total amount of points, say 2 points for every 5 points under 50 points, and if the team is only 1 to 4 points shy of 50 points, they lose a 1 point. Added bonus... by not making the 50 point plateau, the highest the team can draft is fifth overall, which doesn't sound horrible, but trust me, would you rather Bobby Clarke or Ron Stackhouse. Of course, this only an idea, the numbers and values can be changed.

Paul R Can we also change the leagues name to the XFLHL? and why stop there ? why not make our players use viagra and for every time you successfully spear an opponent with your new found wood , you get more odds to win the lottery! Now that's a good plan.

Paul R We'd have to make sure that our players use protectin. We , wouldn't want to any unwanted head injuries or stds.

Greg A So you want to penalize the teams that need the most help? Am I reading that right?

John What issue are we trying to overcome with the change?

Dan im always for rules that will cause teams not to tank.

Dan Greg- there are teams who clearly tank , its to fight against that

Dan FO rme to make things easier you would just reverse and give the best to the best non playoff team

Paul R I agree. This is just as bad as cheating on your taxes. We have to stop these scoundrels from making a mockery of a fantasy league. This is a serious matter , forget the commish we have to go higher. Someone plz write Trudeau

Matt You assume Trudeau was not called... I called his hotline... He rambled on about something for several minutes, not saying much of anything, then said goodbye and hung up the phone. I stood there, holding my phone in disbelief. So, I called Singh.

Greg A Dan, I've asked this before in other leagues, and I'll ask it again here. Who cares? The lottery takes away the guarenteed first pick overall, and if you want to lose 70 games for the 4th overall pick, I say go ahead. What does it matter?

Matt A) This started off a rib towards Paul form a conversation we were having. B) It is a good rule and actually like it. C) This rule would only affect one one average, the last place team.

Matt D) The effect would be small since the last place team normally with the in sim lottery draft 97% of the time. Which is why hold two lottery drafts, the in sim draft which gives the winner Jamboree Points (10 of them).

Matt thus, the worst case is the team goes from 10 points to even points with the non-playoff teams. In fact, this rule would be nothing more than a surface rule to promote winning and not being the a laughing stock like the 1953 Washington Capitals...

Matt Those Capitals had a mere 19 points in 66 games, lowest in league average and the one of the reasons we have lottery draft. But, I do have bar for an expansion or rebuilding team to hot points wise - 30 points.

Matt Now, the 30 points should be upgraded to say 40 points because of the increase of games the league plays.

Matt The key is when a club is an expansion team or rebuilding there is a bottom, but once the bottom is reach, there should be a progression towards getting better, not sticking in the mud. Now, if the team is not being managed properly it becomes an issue.

Matt Thus the rule would give the poorly managed team a bar to reach, thus creating a progress towards becoming good. Now, this is not mean I think Paul or anyone is mis-managing this clubs... while maybe a few, but Paul is not one of them.

Matt If anything, I'm happy when a GM shows up on the daily or at least every few days, maybe even with new fresh lines. I don't ask for much besides for being active, send some lines to show you give a bleep, and do the off-season assignments.

Matt Off-season assignements - send Greg F a list if you can't make the draf, if can make the draft - show up. Show up for the opening of Free Agency. Send your awards and to-do lists.

Paul R Hey Matt , did u receive the nude pics of me , I sent them yesterday. Don't go crossing me now , u promised them pics would assure I didn't lose the lottery for the 3rd time. A good gm should do anything in their power to win a cup in an imaginary league.
