At some point the league will reach 20 teams, amazing since I was not sure for a few reasons how long the league would last. So, moving forward I've targeted 1967 as an expansion year but it is not written in stone. Expansion will be handled as it always been handled, based off the health of the league more than NHL history or anythig else. So, at some point Philadelphia, Long Island, and Pittsburgh will be added to the league and this how I envision the league looking when it happens.

As for Colorado, they will enter the league next season as a non-expansion test team. The Rockies will not be part of the draft, there will be NO expansion draft, and their roster will start as a blank canvas. It will be the job of this GM to trade and sign enough players to compete in the league. The Rockies after the off-season would become a regular team in the league with draft picks. As of right now, I have myself scheduled to be the GM of the Rockies but if anyone is looking to take on a challenge let me know and we can discuss.

COLORADO ROCKIES TEAM SETUP:

Rockies will be given a blank canvas with no players on their roster and no draft picks for the upcoming entry draft (I will create five Rockies picks for the Rockies to select, they will be labeled as NO PICK - Colorado.

Future draft picks and $100 million

NOTE* This is going to be a hard challenge, so if you are interested in giving it ago, make sure you are up before agreeing to do it.

If you have any ideas, comments, or suggests, please leave a comment below.

Don't love the years, but I do think we need to start getting new teams in here as its getting to the point where every nhl player will be a 70 ov. The Colorado challenge seems pretty tough and would give them a big lead to orr which will make a lot of people around here unhappy. But above all im glad to see the league this way and I hope there are GMs to take over.

Paul R I liked the idea of one team per year , but if it makes that much more work for the commish. Now I know it obviuosly makes much more work to do it the way I suggested. I'm in agreement that my suggestion isn't ideal

I'm also looking at the re-rates and extra boost given to players 18 to 29. I got a few ideas on some changes which could help curb the overpopulating of the 70 OV players, including looking at switching from sim engine 1.5 to 2.1, changing the boost from 18 to 29 to 18 to 26, or even doing the boost every second year, or eliminating the boost and maybe adding a a few extra camp slots.

Yup, I hear you Dan, Colorado would have the one up on the 65, 66, and maybe even the rest of the 60s. But, with the lottery draft in place it should limit the times the Rockies draft first overall. Plus, we could always look at adding lottery draft rules such as a team can only draft once or twice in a row, as an example. Yes, the challenge is extremely tough.

What John said. Expanding the league takes time because every needs to make their keeper list, Those lists need to be copied into a file to make a a draft list and, a draft needs to be held. This doesn't include finding the GMs and doing all the updating required. Doing a single expansion would be quicker and faster, and as I said before we are not bound by chains to expand in 67.
